IntroductionWelcome to Recovco-Affimet
RecovCo Affimet is the largest producer of aluminum casting alloys in France. We primarily supply customers in France and the rest of Europe and have developed an enviable track record of product quality and customer service.
In April 2007, RecovCo (a specialist designer and operator of aluminium reprocessing facilities) acquired Affimet from Alcan. As part of the acquisition, RecovCo has invested in installing its state of the art RTF technology at the Compiegne plant. This investment will further improve operational effciency and versatility, delivering improved product quality and customer responsiveness. RecovCo Affimet is now the largest plant in the world to operate RecovCo's proprietary RTF technology.
RecovCo Affimet is at the centre of RecovCo's vision to become the best reprocessor of aluminium dross and scrap in the world - in terms of operational excellence, environmental performance, customer service and profitability.
RecovCo Affimet is committed to ensuring that it contributes to the reduction in CO2 emissions through its recycling operations and strongly believes that there is further scope to improve aluminium recycling rates across Europe and the world.
The use of recycled aluminium significantly reduces the carbon footprint of aluminium consuption. The demand of aluminium has increased from 10 million tonnes in 1970 to over 32 million tonnes in 2005. This is projected to increase further to over 51 million tonnes by 2015. Whilst aluminium is the third most abundant element in the Earth's crust, the cost and energy required to convert aluminium ore (bauxite) into usable aluminium metal is significant.
Aluminium can be repeatedly recycled from virtually any source. Recycled aluminium requires only 5% of the energy required to produce 'virgin' aluminium from bauxite. Recycling aluminium, therefore, saves energy, conserves natural resources, reduces the use of landfill and makes good economic sense.
Recycled aluminium is becoming an increasingly important part of the aluminium supply chain with recycled aluminum projected to grow from 17% in 1960 to over 38% in 2020. |
